Book 11 - Slow Burn
One death was expected, but not three. Sorting out which children would attend which funeral was made worse by Aunt Trudi and the burglary of Bernard’s house was just icing on the cake.
Izzy is convinced the thefts are personal, especially when clues are left to regain them. Everyone is inclined to treat it as a puzzle until Ari, Michael’s old professor, starts losing fingers. Suddenly, the trail of rituals at werewolf burial grounds become high stakes. It doesn’t help that Bernard's secretary Cyn is lying from the outset and Ari isn’t being straight with them, either. Or that the person behind the puzzles was enchanting them, one by one, Sam and Declan included.
Sam has enough on his plate when his mate returns to work after a long illness to encounter a bad reception. She throws herself into getting to the bottom of Cyn’s secrets and why she’s so interested in Izzy’s family. Meanwhile, the family is intrigued to find that Bleiz is right that there’s a unicorn in their house, though it takes a disaster for them to work out why it’s there.
When it all stops being a game, it's too late to pull out. Is Ari the target or Izzy? What is he and why is Cyn lying? Izzy is forced to conclude their nightmare treasure hunt alone and face the Minotaur at the centre of the labyrinth.
